NON-PROFIT RESOURCE LIBRARY TECHNICIAN

As a Library Assistant, the summer student employee will: perform an inventory of existing library materials in our Resource Library located in our store-front office location; acquire, prepare, classify and organize materials augmenting our present collection; perform routine cataloguing of periodicals, reports and research studies entering data into the library computer; conduct literature searches on social issues developing the collection related to and reflective of the voluntary sector; add all new materials to the online master list featured on our web site; process and prepare print or electronic resource additions and ensure their availability to library users; develop a marketing plan promoting the Non-Profit Resource Library - targeting university and community college students, voluntary sector organizations and the community in general.

INFORMATION CENTRE ASSISTANT

As an Assistant at the Community Information and Referral Centre, the summer student will: update existing (online) human service resource database records by email, fax or telephone; populate the database by collecting, verifying and inputting data with special focus on First Nations programs and services; respond to telephone inquiries related to community, health, social and related government programs and services using the searchable database in information retrieval; assist with the development of our web site (research articles, provide links, add to community calendar, assist with newsletter, etc) and assist with occasional public relations and fund raising events.

The deadline for applications is May 25th, 2007

Both positions start on June 4th, 2007 and last for 12 weeks
