2007 Social Planning Awards
8th Annual Social Planning Awards

We are pleased to invite nominations for the Eighth Annual Lakehead Social Planning Council’s Social Planning Awards. The Awards presentation will be made at our Annual General Meeting to be held Wednesday, June 20, 2007 (Oliver Road Community Centre at 7:00pm).

Two awards are presented, one to an organization and one to an individual. Any resident and/or organization in Thunder Bay who have worked towards enhancing the quality of life in the city or the district of Thunder Bay for at least three years are eligible.

Last Year's recipients of the LSPC Social Planning Awards include:

Individual
• Diana Prairie

Organization
• Thunder Bay Economic Justice Committee

In order to be considered for this award, each nomination letter must be signed by two (2) separate sources. Nominees will be evaluated by a sub-committee of the Board of Directors of the Lakehead Social Planning Council. The enclosed nomination form and accompanying summary must be received by Friday, June 8, 2007. This will allow time for the panel to consider the submissions and notify the honourees.

To nominate an individual and/or organization please complete the nomination form and attach a one page summary addressing the following questions.

1. In your estimation how has the individual or organization worked to enhance the quality of life in the City and District of Thunder Bay?

2. How has the individual or organization been active in the promotion of social justice?

3. Briefly describe the individual or organization’s commitment to the development of positive community values.

4. How has the individual or organization used their experience and skill to create wider awareness of social issues that affect the citizens of Thunder Bay and district?

5. In your estimation, how has the individual or organization shown passion and compassion in the development of innovative approaches to social problem-solving?
