Summer Student - Community Information Assistant
Start Date: ASAP / Close Date: June 11th, 2008 / Duration: 12 Weeks
Compensation: $8.75/hour
Major Responsibilities:
- Update existing resource database records by email, fax or telephone
- Collect, verify and input data with special focus on lodges & service clubs, faith groups & Hard Times Handbook
- Respond to telephone and walk-in inquiries
- Perform reception duties as required (photocopying, faxing etc.)
- Assist with web site articles, newsletter & community calendar
- Assist with occasional public relations and fundraising events
- Supervise Community Access site (forms, monitoring)
- Review HR policies in AIRS accreditation manual
- Create newly updated lists (fax, email)
Student Requirements:
- was registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
- intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
- is a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
- is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the time of intake/selection;
- is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations; and
- is not working 30 hours or more per week at another job.
