Project Assistant
Position Summary: Contract ending March 31/06
Compensation: $13.00 hr.

Project Description:
“Capacity Building and Public Awareness of Homelessness in Thunder Bay” is a project of the Lakehead Social Planning Council – Community Information & Referral Centre and is funded by the Supporting Communities Partnership Initiative (SCPI) of the federal government’s National Homelessness Initiative.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide clerical administrative support for the Education & Public Awareness component of the above named project
• Use computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software to prepare reports, memos and documents; and conduct research
• Update and ensure the accuracy of the organization’s database of community services
• Develop and maintain information resources on a website
• Coordinate and assist in development of pamphlets, posters and other print products on services available to the homeless, or those at risk of being homeless
• Assist in the creation of a single point of access for the collection and dissemination of information re available services
• Provide and expand an email and fax distribution list
• Assist with mandatory reporting including activity and financial reports
• Communicate with front line staff of agencies serving the homeless and at risk
• Provide support in planning a forum/workshop and creating social policy tool kits

Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years office experience
• Proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office computer applications and all office equipment
• Experience in the use of desktop publishing
• Experience in web development
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Successful experience in multitasking and ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
