“Homelessness Awareness Week”
– (Officially Proclamed by the City of Thunder Bay)
There are currently many community groups, agencies, organizations and individuals working to improve upon the present situation regarding homelessness and income insecurity. During the week of May 29th – June 4th, there will be a number of events designed to enhance community awareness, provide skills to advocate against and provide general information regarding housing and income insecurity.
The specific events that will be hosted during this week are:
May 29th – John Howard Society
Open House
1pm – 6pm
May 31st – Thunder Bay Economic Justice Committee
Dana Milne: Income Security Advocacy Centre (Toronto)
Workshop on Social Assistance Reform
9:00 am – 12:00

June 1st and 2nd – Lakehead Social Planning Council’s Homelessness Initiative in partnership with the Thunder Bay Economic Justice Committee

This event will educate the areas youth on the realities of homelessness.
The Thunder Bay Homelessness Initiative is funded through the
Supporting Communities Partnership Initiative (SCPI) phase II.
