CAP - Community Access Program at the LSPC
Welcome
to the LSPC public computer lab.
Please read the following computer use policy before getting started. Contravening any of the policies and rules below may lead to the discontinuation of the user’s privileges, and/or prosecution under existing federal, provincial and/or local laws.
- You must sign in to use the computers in the lab. If there is no more room or missing sign in sheets, please ask one of our friendly staff for assistance.
- You are only allowed to use the computers to 45 minutes at a time. If there is no one waiting to use them you are allowed to stay on longer as long as no new users are waiting for the computers.
- Users shall not create or distribute any images, sounds, messages or other material which are obscene, harassing, racist, malicious, fraudulent or libelous, nor use the equipment in the computer centre for any activity that may be considered unethical, immoral or illegal.
- Users shall not intentionally seek information about, browse, obtain copies of or modify files, passwords, or tapes belonging to other people, no matter where they are located, unless specifically authorized to do so by those individuals.
- Users shall not attempt to decrypt any encrypted material unless authorized to do so.
- Users shall respect intellectual and property rights and laws, including those for local and remote network data or information. This includes private, confidential or restricted data, as well as copyrights and licenses to the use of, or access to, information or programs The user is responsible for assessing whether or not a program(s)/data has copyright on it.
- The user is responsible for creating their own back-up copy of any important or critical information.
- The user may not load any software into our computers without prior specific permission.
- The user may not file documents onto the computer’s hard drive. Information may be saved to a disk in the A drive.
- If a problem arises with the equipment while you are using it, notify the supervisor on duty of the problem.
- No food or drink is permitted in the computer room.
The LSPC reserves the right to monitor and track any computer use activity.
