Annual General Meeting 2005
Information Technology Report
In 2004 to present day, the LSPC has continued to stay at the forefront of
technology. For any modern office it is absolutely necessary to have the tools
available to empower us to keep in better communication with the community
we serve.
We have added a mailing list to our website and use this in conjunction with
CIRC's broadcast fax service to alert our members about current events, updates
from the LSPC and general information regarding the community and social planning.
Our email updates are sent out a few times a month and reach over 200 citizens
in the Northwest.
Our website continues to grow considerably and now has over 250 pages of information
including resources for seniors, online ordering for the CIRC Directory, our
newsletters, information on all of our projects, an events calendar and much
more. Our site is receiving increased visits and generates traffic on many
keyword searches through your favourite search engines.
We have started to use the powerful data management program called CIOC (Community
Information Online Consortium). This program is a welcome update and will make
the process of updating our database more streamline. Currently we are using
this as a internal tool but will eventually launch it under the 211 initiative
giving the public access to search through over 1500 community and government
agencies.
As the LSPC continues to grow and diversify so does the need to have adequate
technology. It's been a pleasure and a challenge working with the LSPC to meet
these needs and I look forward to helping the LSPC become a community leader
in technology.
Respectfully submitted
Mark Walther
